Hi...  I'm Tom Ross.  Here is a bit of an introduction:

I’ve had the good fortune to work within some of the giants in the life sciences industry - Eli Lilly, American Hospital Supply, Baxter, Edwards, Medtronic - and these early work experiences burnished the educational background that I received at UCLA in the sciences as well as in business.

I moved on to earlier-stage companies, becoming a bigger fish in much smaller ponds… 

 

I was promoted to VP of Sales & Marketing at American Medical Electronics (now OrthoFix) - and led the launch of a new spinal fusion device - beating sales plan by 35%.  

Our company grew from $7 million to over $30 million in sales in short order.
•    While the distributor sales force that we built supported early commercial efforts, a big factor in continued growth was the conversion to a direct salesforce. 

 

I directed both sales & marketing at Medtronic MicroInterventional Systems - launching new neurovascular devices both internationally and domestically, growing the company from $0 to $10 million through a direct salesforce.

 

I have been in charge of sales and marketing for start-up companies that have been successful in very competitive markets - and in attracting acquisition by Medtronic, Covidien and Smith & Nephew.

 

My companies have raised private equity funds or been acquired for a total of over $395 million, with my direction or active involvement in investor presentations and ongoing investor support.


Understanding the needs of clinical customers, constructing a scientific or clinical advisory board, conducting market research, early product concept definition, leading or interfacing development teams, building a marketing plan and start-up platform...

  • I innovate and manage all aspects of the “upstream” marketing process.


Building and leading a sales team or distributor network, developing successful launch packages, creating sales training materials, forming a cohesive communications plan, directing regional, national and international product roll-outs, innovating sales compensation packages and assuring customer delight...
